ABVP protest forces Kerala University to act on LLB revaluation irregularities

Thiruvananthapuram: Akhil Bharatiya Vidhyarthi Parishad on August 14 staged a massive protest at Kerala University headquarters, demanding action on serious irregularities in the revaluation of LLB exams. The irregularities occurred in the revaluation of the exam came to light when students discovered major mark discrepancies in their revaluation results. Following the protest, ABVP leaders held talks with the Vice-Chancellor, who gave some important assurances. The Vice-Chancellor assured ABVP that strict action will be taken against teachers who failed to evaluate papers properly. He also said the university will decide on refunding revaluation fees to students at the next Syndicate meeting and confirmed that the revaluation system will continue for current students and will not be scrapped. We stood firmly for students’ rights and held the university accountable for its lapses. We welcome the Vice-Chancellor’s assurances on action against negligent evaluators and on the fee refund, but this will continue until they are implemented in letter and spirit, with complete transparency and accountability in exam evaluation” The protest was led by State Secretary Yadhu Krishnan, State Joint Secretary K. G. Gokul Krishnan, and State Executive Committee members B. S. Abhinand and G. Kiran Dev, among others.
